Hydnellum velutinum - Details

The spines (teeth) on the underside of the cap are crowded, up to 5 mm (0.2") long x 1 mm (0.04") wide at the base, tapering to a point, round in cross-section. Occasional teeth are somewhat flattened. The spines closest to the stalk are typically shorter.
